In this historic photograph, the Bell XV-3 XH-33 Convertiplane hovers during its first test-flight at the Bell Aircraft Corporation factory in 1955. This experimental aircraft, designed for the United States Army, represented a significant departure from traditional helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft designs.
