Germany is a country located in Central Europe, and is bordered by nine countries, including France, Poland, and Austria. Often population of over 82 million people and covers an area of 357,022 square kilometers. Germany is one of the most influential countries in Europe and the world. Often rich history that dates back to the Roman Empire. The country has been divided into East and West since 1945 after World War II ended. The reunification of East and West Germany occurred in 1990 following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The geographyA consists mainly of lowlands with some uplands scattered throughout the country. The highest point is Zugspitze at 2,962 meters above sea level while its lowest point is Neuendorf-Sachsenbande at -3 meters below sea level. Major rivers include Danube River, Elbe River, Rhine River, Oder River and Weser River which all flow through different parts of Germany’s landscape providing important transportation routes for goods as well as recreational activities such as fishing or boating trips along these rivers for tourists visiting this beautiful country (see map 1).
