He was responsible for a large recruitment campaign, with his image appearing on posters. He died when the warship he was travelling on was sunk by a German mine. Date: circa 1914-1916

This evocative photograph captures Lord Horatio Herbert Kitchener, the British Secretary of State for War during World War I, in full military regalia.
