This powerful and evocative image captures the enigmatic figure of Little Turtle, also known as Mikasuki or Tecumseh's older brother, the renowned Miami tribe chief who led a series of raids against American settlers in the Northwest Territory during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Born around 1752, Little Turtle rose to prominence as a military leader, successfully defending his people against the encroachment of European settlers. The intricately beaded necklace adorning his chest, a symbol of his chiefly status, is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the Miami people. The numbered sign on the print, likely an identification number from a museum or archive, underscores the historical significance of this important figure in Native American history.
