This print showcases Edgar Degas' masterpiece, "Woman Bathing Shallow Tub" created in 1885. Using charcoal and pastel on light green wove paper, Degas skillfully captures the intimate act of a woman bathing in a shallow tub. Over time, the artwork has acquired a warm gray hue due to discoloration. Measuring 32 x 22 1/8 inches (81.3 x 56.2 cm), this drawing is laid down on silk bolting for preservation. Degas, a renowned French artist from Paris (1834-1917), presented this piece as part of his eighth and final Impressionist exhibition in 1886. Unfortunately, critics viciously attacked the painting for its portrayal of ungainly poses by the bathers. However, amidst the controversy surrounding these unconventional depictions, Mary Cassatt admired Degas' work and exchanged one of her own paintings with him. Today, this remarkable artwork can be found at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. The Liszt Collection offers an exquisite print that allows art enthusiasts to appreciate every intricate detail captured by Degas over a century ago.
