Born on August 30, 1909, in The Hague, Juliana was the eldest daughter of Queen Wilhelmina and Prince Henry of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Her father died when she was just nine years old, and she became heir to the Dutch throne. In 1937, Juliana married Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld, and together they had four children: Beatrix, Claus, Irene, and Willem-Alexander. The photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the princess's life before her ascension to the throne in 1948, following her mother's abdication. Juliana's reign was marked by significant events, including the Dutch resistance during World War II and the decolonization of Indonesia. She abdicated in favor of her daughter, Beatrix, in 1980, and passed away on March 20, 2004, at the age of 94.
