Born in the Netherlands, Bogerman studied theology at the University of Leiden and became a member of the Dutch Reformed Church. The year 1637 marked the completion of Bogerman's magnum opus: a Dutch translation of the Bible that would become the standard version for the Dutch Reformed Church.
