Born on December 31, 1882, in Battersea, London, Hobbs went on to become a key figure in the sport during the early 20th century. Known as 'The Master', Hobbs was renowned for his exceptional batting skills, with a Test batting average of 56.94, the highest of any batsman who played in more than 50 Tests.
