This photograph captures the focus and determination of John Thomas Tyldesley (1879-1951), a renowned cricketer who represented both Lancashire and England. Tyldesley was known for his aggressive batting style and his ability to score quickly, making him a valuable asset to both Lancashire and England teams. Despite his impressive cricket career, Tyldesley's life was not without challenges. He served in the British Army during World War I, and was later involved in a tragic accident that left him with a serious injury. However, his love for cricket never wavered, and he continued to play and coach the sport until the end of his life.
