The Suez Canal, an engineering marvel of its time, was constructed between 1859 and 1869, connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea and significantly reducing the time and distance required for international maritime transport between Europe and Asia. The Toussoun Trench, a narrow and deep section of the canal, posed a formidable challenge to early navigators. Measuring only 120 meters in width and 12 meters in depth, the trench demanded the utmost skill and precision from the crews of the cargo vessels passing through.
