A surprise diamond wedding party was held for Mrs E and Mr F Stanborough at the Laing Sports Club at Elstree. Mr Stanborough had joined Laing as a carpenter in 1934. After his service during the war, he returned to become a general foreman and site agent on various sites. He retired in 1970 with 36 years service. An article on their diamond wedding celebrations was published in the August 1987 issue of Laings Team Spirit newsletter
