This print captures the exquisite stained glass in the entrance doorway of the ladies Turkish baths at the Health Hydro, located on Milton Road in Swindon, Wiltshire. Originally opened as the Great Western Railway Medical Fund Baths, this historic establishment holds a significant place in English history. Built in 1891, the GWR Medical Fund Baths and Dispensary served as a haven for relaxation and healing. Over time, additional features such as washing baths and Turkish baths were added to enhance visitors' experience. The Turkish baths themselves date back to 1904 and hold the distinction of being England's oldest continuously used facilities of their kind. The architectural beauty displayed through this stained glass artwork is truly mesmerizing. Its intricate design showcases vibrant colors that illuminate when sunlight filters through it, creating an enchanting atmosphere for those entering these sacred bathing chambers. Although these buildings underwent substantial repairs during the 1980s, they have managed to retain their original charm and grandeur. Recognized for their historical significance, they are proudly listed as Grade II* structures. Simon Inglis has masterfully captured this momentous piece of history with his camera lens.
