Unfortunately, tragedy struck when the building fell victim to an air raid in January 1941, resulting in its complete destruction. Today, where once stood this historic coaching inn now stands a modern block of flats known as George Court. While progress has transformed the site into something new and different, it is impossible to overlook the loss and destruction suffered by this cherished piece of history.
