OSBORNE HOUSE, Isle of Wight. The Ryde Album. Naval group, mostly relatives of Queen Victoria, including (left to right): Prince Alfred Duke of Edinburgh and Duke of Saxe-Coburg Gotha (second son); possibly Prince Leopold Duke of Albany (grandson); Edward Prince of Wales (eldest son and soon to be King Edward VII, seated); Prince Henry of Prussia (grandson); probably Prince Louis of Battenberg (grandson by marriage); Prince George Duke of York (grandson, later to be George V).
This photograph must predate 1900 when Prince Alfred passed away, handing the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg Gotha to his nephew Leopold

CHAMBERLAIN SQUARE, Birmingham, West Midlands. This civic fountain was erected in 1880 by public subscription in gratitude for Joseph Chamberlain's time as mayor (1873-6). The architect was John Chamberlain, withs Barfield of Leicester, sculptor, and Salviati Burke & Co of Venice, mosaics. In the background are Mason College and the pubilc library, both of which have since been demolished. Photograph by Bedford Lemere circa 1890

LUDGATE CIRCUS, City of London. A busy street view of Ludgate Circus with horse-drawn buses in the foreground and a steam train on the bridge. The Circus was constructed at the junction of Ludgate Hill and Fleet Street between 1864 and 1875. A late 19th century photograph by York and Son. A cropped version of image number CC97_01518
