Thornborough Henges 28175_020

Thornborough Henges, North Yorkshire. Three henges on the north bank of the River Ure, which form part of a wider ritual landscape including a cursus, mortuary enclosures and Bronze Age barrows. The nearest henge survives as a cropmark, while the further two henges retain significant earthworlks.

Iron Age ironworks, Exmoor 18335_12

Iron Age/Roman iron smelting site, Sherracombe Ford, Devon. This iron processing site is late Iron Age or Roman, making it the earliest known iron works on Exmoor. It consists of several platforms terraced onto the hillside above two large slagheaps. These features are made most visible through the use of aerial photography.
