High Street, Slough, Berkshire. The front of the Wimpy restaurant at 145 High Street, a former Burton store with a polished granite facade.
The building was previously numbered 83-85 High Street. Historic mapping shows that it was renumbered as no. 145 at some point between 1956 and 1967. The facade is probably one of several granite facades to feature on Burton stores, including at Reading, Kingston upon Hull and Bournemouth. It was replaced or covered with a brick facade by the early 21st century, at which time the premises were occupied by a branch of Halifax bank

However, with the passage of time and changing architectural trends, the beautiful granite frontage was eventually replaced or concealed by a brick facade during the early years of the twenty-first century. Today, this space is occupied by a branch of Halifax bank.
