The Burton store on Bridge Street was built in 1937; a foundation stone was laid by Raymond Montague Burton. Granite facades feature on around 15 Burton stores, including Stratford-upon-Avon, Kingston-upon-Hull, and Reading. The suppliers of the granite may have been Fenning & Co of Hammersmith.
