Sioux warriors at Custers Last Stand, 1876, (c1900). Sioux warriors leading away captured horses after defeating Custers troops at Custers Last Stand, otherwise known as the Battle of Little Big Horn, 25-26 June 1876. White gold prospectors had invaded the sacred Black Hills in Native American territory in 1874, and the Sioux had attacked them.
