The nuptials of Fathma Sultane and Ali Gholib Pacha...have just been celebrated, with great magnificence...at the Palace of Baltaliman. [Taking part in the procession were:]...A band of music on horseback...Turkish Grandees, in suits splendidly embroidered with gold, and riding fine Arabian horses...The Sheik-ul-Islam (Turkish Pope), in snow-white garments...A number of Eunuchs. The [bride's] golden carriage, drawn by six fine English black horsess...the Chief of the Eunuchs, his breast covered with stars and cordons; he wears a General's epaulettes, and his dress is embroidered all over...the Chief of Ulemas, an aged man dressed in white...servants on foot, wearing the Sultan's livery...'.
