At the heart of the image is Helen Grace Culverwell Marsh-Lambert (1888-1981), an accomplished illustrator of children's books, who is seated in a deckchair, second from the left. Her husband, Charles Lambert, a composer and banker, is seen to her right. Behind them, James Lambert, a banker, and his brother, a dentist, Frank Lambert, are standing at the back, along with their first cousin, Stanley Grantham-Hill, a doctor.
