Born on June 3, 1865, George V was the second son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He was educated at home and served in the Royal Navy before embarking on a political career. He became Prince of Wales in 1891 and was married to Princess Mary of Teck in 1893. When his father died, George V succeeded to the throne and was crowned on June 22, 1911. George V's reign was marked by significant events in British history, including the First World War and the Irish War of Independence. He played a key role in leading the country through these challenging times, and his reign is remembered for its stability and continuity. George V died on January 20, 1936, and was succeeded by his eldest son, Edward VIII. This postcard is a fascinating glimpse into the past, offering a glimpse into the life of a monarch who played a crucial role in shaping the history of Britain in the early 20th century.
