Amidst the bustling industrial scene of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the plight of the humble workmen took center stage. In Portugal, striking workers demanded better wages and conditions, while in East London, new dwellings rose to provide a roof over their heads in 1894. The New Compensation Act of 1906 brought much-needed relief, as a Butler took a tumble and a stableboy was kicked in the stable. Across the Channel in Paris, France, the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral stood as a beacon of history, while back in Wales, ironmasters and workmen delegates convened for a pivotal conference in Cardiff in 1873. The arrival of the workmen's train brought hope and unity, as they traveled to demand their rights. But progress wasn't always peaceful; a workmen's duel broke out, and tensions boiled over on the Baker Street workmen's train. Through it all, the resilient workmen persevered, their struggles shaping the world we know today.
