A winery is a facility that produces and stores wine. It typically includes vineyards, a wine press, fermentation tanks, storage tanks, bottling lines and other equipment necessary to produce wine. Wineries may also include tasting rooms where visitors can sample the wines produced on-site. The winemaking process begins with grapes being harvested from the vineyard and then crushed in order to extract the juice. The juice is then fermented in large tanks before being aged in barrels or bottles for several months or years. Finally, the finished product is bottled and labeled for sale to consumers. Wineries are an important part of many local economies as they provide jobs for workers involved in all aspects of production from growing grapes to bottling wines.
