EDITORS COMMENTS

Wilson Thomas Woodrow was a man of great influence and power, serving as the 28th President of the United States from 1913 to 1921. Known for his progressive policies and diplomatic skills, he led the country through World War I and played a key role in shaping the post-war world order. Born in Virginia in 1856, Wilson was raised in Georgia and South Carolina before attending Princeton University and later earning a law degree from the University of Virginia. He went on to become a respected scholar and served as president of Princeton before entering politics. As President, Wilson implemented numerous reforms aimed at improving conditions for working Americans, including laws regulating child labor, establishing an eight-hour workday, and creating the Federal Reserve System. He also championed women's suffrage and signed legislation granting women the right to vote. In foreign affairs, Wilson is perhaps best known for his efforts to promote peace through diplomacy. He famously outlined his vision for a new world order based on self-determination and collective security in his Fourteen Points speech delivered to Congress in 1918. Despite facing significant challenges during his presidency, including racial tensions at home and escalating conflicts abroad, Wilson remained steadfast in his commitment to upholding democratic values and promoting global cooperation. His legacy continues to be felt today as we navigate complex international relations and strive for a more just society.
