Combine harvester working in a wheat field
Combine harvester. Combine harvester working in a wheat field. Wheat, Triticum sp., is the most important crop in the world, and is largely used to make flour. The harvester's paddlewheel (at the front) turns and pushes the crop against a cutting bar. The crop enters the harvester and is threshed (beaten) to separate the grain from the rest of the plant.
