Cottage of Alfred Wallis, St Ives, Cornwall

View of the cottage of Alfred Wallis (1855-1942), primitive artist, mariner, fisherman and marine stores dealer, at Back Road West, not far from Porthmeor Beach and the Tate Gallery, in the centre of St Ives, Cornwall. Wallis took up painting late in life, in 1922 after his wife died. The cottage has now been modernised and is a popular venue for holiday letting

LCC-LFB Pageants Wharf fire station, Rotherhithe

Built by the London County Council and opened in 1903, Pageants Wharf fire station still stands at 241 Rotherhithe Street, SE16. With the decline of the Surrey Docks system and removal of the swing bridges at either end of Rotherhithe Street (replaced by permanent access) the station was closed in 1968

LFB at 25 pump fire, warehouse in Fulham

LFB firefighters in action at a fire in Fulham, where 100 tons of paraffin wax ignited in a riverside warehouse. The major blaze required 25 pumps and the attendance of two fireboats to contain the fire which destroyed the warehouse
