Waxwings, also known as Cedar Waxwings, are fascinating birds that can be found in various parts of the world. These beautiful creatures have a unique diet and are often spotted enjoying different types of berries. In Alsace, France, a stunning image captures a Waxwing delicately eating Cotoneaster lacteus berries. The vibrant red fruit perfectly complements the bird's sleek plumage. Moving across the Atlantic to Connecticut, USA, another snapshot showcases a Cedar Waxwing with a berry in its mouth. This sighting took place in April when these migratory birds make their way back north after wintering further south. Even during the colder months in Connecticut, Waxwings find sustenance by feasting on crab apples. In January, they can be seen perched on branches while indulging in this seasonal treat. Lower Saxony, Germany offers yet another spectacle as an entire flock gathers to feed on Guelder-rose berries. The sight of these birds congregating together creates an awe-inspiring display against the backdrop of nature's beauty. Across the pond in Whitstable, Kent, England, UK - specifically in February - one lucky observer captured a shot of a solitary Waxwing perched gracefully among Shadblow Serviceberry trees. Its presence adds elegance to an already picturesque scene. A remarkable photograph features not only a group of Bombycilla garrulus (Bohemian waxwings) but also includes a crane standing tall behind them. This juxtaposition highlights both avian species' grace and majesty. Spring migration is an exciting time for bird enthusiasts and Cedar waxwings play their part too. Witnessing their arrival during this season brings joy and anticipation for what lies ahead – warmer weather and new beginnings. In-flight dining becomes second nature for these agile creatures as they effortlessly snatch snow-covered Rowan berries whilst soaring through wintry landscapes. Their ability to navigate and feed simultaneously is truly remarkable.
