The Kinecar by William Heath Robinson Featured Print

The Kinecar by William Heath Robinson

Double page illustration by William Heath Robinson (1872-1944) showing a well-equipped omnibus transporting passengers while they watch a film. The caption reads,'a luxurious vehicle fitted with many devices for the comfort of passengers returning home on a winter's evening, an interesting (and true) forecast for the future of travel. Robinson was a regular contributor to the Sketch, the Bystander and other ILN titles during his lifetime. His weekly drawings featuring mind-boggling contraptions and designs were immensely popular. Dangerous corner.....
Brands Hatch, Kent, England ; Unidentified speed car driver negotiates what appears to be a " dangerous corner " at the Brands Hatch motor circuit here today. The girl on the track is 22 year old French idol, Francoise Hardy, the innovator of the current mini - jupe ( short skirt ) craze, who is currently on location here for the movie, " Grand Prix ".
Racing sequences for the film are being made at Brands Hatch under the direction of John Frankenheimer for MGM Cinerama presentation.

GLC-LFB - Foam Tender at East Ham Featured Print

GLC-LFB - Foam Tender at East Ham

The GLC-LFB was created on 1 April 1965. A series of photos was commissioned of each type of fire engine, either within or absorbed into the enlarged London Fire Brigade. A mechanical bulk foam tender from East Ham fire station (L21) is seen here at a fire station. The Bedford lorry with a foam tank on the back had its own fire pump and foam generator. Originally this fire engine was stationed in the West Ham fire brigade, whose stations were absorbed into the London Fire Brigade in 1965
