Uplands are areas of high ground, usually located in mountainous regions, and are characterized by steep slopes and rugged terrain, with elevations ranging from a few hundred feet to several thousand feet and can often home to unique flora and fauna, which have adapted to the harsh environment. Uplands provide important habitat for wildlife, including species such as deer, elk, bighorn sheep and mountain goats.
