A vintage postcard captures Tommy Dorsey in his prime, effortlessly playing his beloved trombone while leaving an indelible mark on jazz history. Transport yourself back to c1874 when American circuses paraded around tents alongside railroad trains. Amongst this vibrant scene stood talented musicians skillfully playing their trombones. During colonial times in India, members of the British army's 93rd Highlanders proudly displayed their musical prowess on brass instruments like the noble trombone. The Count Basie Orchestra takes us back to the swinging 1950s where crowds were captivated by smooth jazz melodies emanating from expertly played trumpets and resonant trombones. An illustration depicts six dapper gentlemen wearing bow ties and waistcoats passionately performing together in a jazz band. The resounding notes from trumpet, drums, clarinet, banjo, and double bass blend harmoniously with that distinctive voice -the trombone. Silent film stills capture Charles Buddy Rogers immersed in music; his expressive face tells stories only matched by his heartfelt performance on his trusty instrument -the timeless trombone. Chris Barber's iconic presence continues to inspire generations even in 2013. His mastery over the intricacies of this magnificent instrument has made him one of its greatest ambassadors.
