Formula One - Jackie Stewart

Three times world drivers' champion Jackie Stewart. *3/1/96: Stewart is returning to Formula One as head of his own team. Stewart, who won 27 Grands Prix in 99 races on his way to three world championship in 1969, 1971 and 1973, has been away from the sport for 22 years. But the multi-millionaire has stayed in touch with the sport through his son Paul and his British-based team, Paul Stewart Racing, who have been successful in the junior formulas. He will return in 1997, fronting a team backed by Ford and with a five-year plan to challenge Williams, Benetton and Ferrari. *15/6/01: Stewart has been conferred a Knighthood in the Queen's Birthday honours list.
