It inhabits open country, particularly where there are large rodent populations, upon which it feeds. The short-eared owl can grow to 43 cm in length and weigh up to 475 grams. T-Hawk, in operation in 2007, uses hover-and-stare capabilities and real-time video documentation to support advanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. T-Hawk is often flown ahead of route clearance teams to identify and monitor Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and ground signs using a telegraphic scope to zoom in on the ground. Date: 2013
