Stuntman attempts to fly car over river Featured Print

Stuntman attempts to fly car over river

Stuntman Bill Johnston of Destruction Squad was supposed to fly his car over a river in the English Midlands, but failed to achieve sufficient speed due to the wet ground. A local fisherman had been persuaded to sit in his boat in midstream so that the car could be photographed flying over it. Instead it splashed down within inches of the boat and the fisherman jumped out of the boat into the water. The driver was unhurt, but as he stood on the roof of his car which was floating downstream the furious fisherman clambered up and delivered a punch to the jaw that sent Bill flying. Seen here is the car just taking off, with the fisherman sitting unconcerned in his boat. Date: 1967

WWI - What a Pleasure to be a Soldier

WWI - What a Pleasure to be a Soldier! Two cheeky (and rather rotund) Geman privates mimic their commanding officer and his hands-on-hips pose - with considerable comic effect!! He appears to be getting his troop into some form of shape!! Date: 1915
