The Hall of Science Chicago World's Fair
The Hall of Science at the Century of Progress International Exposition (Chicago World's Fair) 1933/4. It was held to celebrate the city's centennial. The theme of the fair was technological innovation. "The Hall of Science, 700 by 400 feet, two stories and a mezzanine in height, rising from coloured, concrete terraces. At night it will be brilliantly illuminated by indirect and fluctuating coloured flood lights. Located at Sixteenth street and the Lake, with part of the building extending directly across Leif Eriksen Drive - Chicago's famous waterfront boulevard." Date: 1933

Getting a rise in the World 1912
Photograph of the tallest skyscraper (at the time) being built in New York by the Woolworth Company. Workman holding on with nothing but rope chains and without any safety equipment, photo taken when the building had progressed to the thirtieth story, thousands of New Yorkers gathered to see the workers putting in place the gigantic steel girders.
