Sir Peter Paul Rubens was a Flemish Baroque painter who is considered one of the most influential artists of his time. He was born in 1577 in Siegen, Germany and moved to Antwerp with his family at the age of 10. His work was characterized by its dynamism, exuberance and sensuality. He often used bright colors and exaggerated forms to create dramatic scenes that were filled with movement. Rubens painted religious works, portraits, landscapes and mythological scenes for both private patrons and public commissions.
