Treasure trove from the Dark Ages: pieces of Byzantine ornamental plate among the many magnificent objects that have been unearthed at Sutton Hoo, Suffolk. The silver dish in the centre was made in Constantinople (Istanbul) about the year A.D. 250. It bears the hallmark of the Emperor Anastasius. Date: 1939
