The Maharajah of Mysore, WW1
Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV GCSI, GBE (June 4, 1884 August 3, 1940, Bangalore Palace), also known popularly as Nalwadi Krishna Raja Wadiyar, the ruling Maharaja of the princely state of Mysore from 1902 until his death in 1940. He is regarded as one of the most celebrated rulers among the Indian States when India was still under British rule. At the time of his death, he was also one of the world's wealthiest men, with a personal fortune estimated in 1940 to be worth $400 million which would be equivalent to $56 billion in 2010 prices. Pictured in The Sketch after he had donated fifty lakhs of rupees (worth about 330, 000 at the time) at the disposal of the Indian Government for expenditure in connection with the Expeditionary Force. The money was used towards the cost of transporting the Indian Expeditionary Force. Date: 1914

Card 3 of 5 - The Wrestlers'. A cartoon interpretation of the Russo-Japanese war, acted out by the principal ruling individuals from the International Community. The Russo-Japanese War was a conflict that grew out of the rival imperialist ambitions of the Russian Empire and the Empire of Japan over Manchuria and Korea. The major theatres of operations were Southern Manchuria, specifically the area around the Liaodong Peninsula and Mukden, and the seas around Korea, Japan, and the Yellow Sea. Japan inflicted a series of stunning defeats on the Russian Navy, principally at Tsushima in May 1905. In this third card, Tsar Nicholas II and the Japanese Emperor wrestle with each other whilst the International community watches on, forming up behind the side they are supporting
