Remember when Stockton Venture Scouts took on all comers in an eight-mile paddle along the river? Circa 1972 at Hintons Supermarket in Whitehouse Farm, Bishopton Road, Stockton-on-Tees was a bustling hub of activity. Meanwhile, David Nicholson proudly showcased his CB Radio rig and license as a true enthusiast. Samantha Bunnell and her friend Jillian Carnell also tried their hand at using a CB Radio. The PS John H Amos paddlewheel tugboat made its way down the river with grace and elegance. The Stockton and District Schools football squad showed their gratitude by turning out in style for those who supported them. The cup-winning Blakeston Comprehensive School team had been together for years, celebrating their victories both on and off the field.
