One of the Famly - a horse joins a family meal
'One of the Family' by Frederick George Cotman (original in the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool). Cotman painted this romantic scene of rustic domestic life at the Black Boy Inn at Hurley on Thames. It shows a farmer (posed by the inn keeper) returning home (see dark shape in shadows on the right) for his meal, while his horse leans through the doorway to be fed by the farmer's wife. Date: 1908

Lovely little canal-side house in Edam, the Netherlands
Edam, Netherlands - 27 May 2016
The lovely Edam is a small city in the northwest Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Combined with Volendam, Edam forms the municipality of Edam-Volendam. Approximately 7, 380 people live in this up-market area. The name Edam originates from a dam on the little river E or IJe where the first settlement was located. Here we see an idyllic little canal-side house.
