Prince Frederick, known as Prince Frederick Louis, was the eldest son of King George III and Queen Charlotte of England. Born in 1733, he held the title of Prince of Wales and played the cello with great passion at Kew Palace during his youth. A portrait from 1770 depicts a royal family gathering where young they are be seen alongside his siblings and parents, including future kings William IV and George IV. The Duke of York Column in London stands tall as a tribute to Prince Frederick's younger brother, who also held that title. Another artwork captures an equestrian moment with the Princes of Orange and their families riding out from The Buitenhof. In contrast to these joyful scenes, an engraving portrays the funeral procession for the late Duke of York. However, historical events were not limited to mourning; an oil painting showcases Prince Maurice and Frederick Henry attending the Valkenburg Horse Fair in 1618. Moving forward in time, we encounter distinguished Dukes of York captured in another engraving. Among them is Prince Frederick himself along with other notable figures such as H. R. H. Prince Frederick Duke of Gloucester. A delivery note from Thomas King & Co provides insight into mercers serving King George III's family members including the Prince of Wales (later George IV), Princess Royal (Charlotte), and even our subject - Prince Frederick.
