Planetary is a term used to describe any celestial body that orbits around a star. Planets are among the most fascinating objects in our universe, and they have captivated humans for centuries.

The Solar System consists of eight planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. These planets are divided into two categories: terrestrial planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars) and gas giants (Jupiter, Saturn Uranus and Neptune). Terrestrial planets are composed of rock and metal while gas giants consist mainly of hydrogen and helium. Each planet has its own unique characteristics such as size, composition atmosphere temperature etc.

The study of planetary science is an interdisciplinary field that combines astronomy with geology to understand the formation history evolution dynamics climate habitability potential resources etc., of these worlds. Planetary scientists use data from spacecrafts such as NASA’s Cassini mission to explore the surfaces atmospheres interiors magnetic fields rings moons etc., of these distant worlds in order to gain insight into their origin evolution structure composition atmosphere climate habitability potential resources etc.,

Planetary science also encompasses other topics such as astrobiology which studies the possibility for life beyond Earth; exoplanets which are planets outside our Solar System; astrochemistry which explores how chemical processes shape planetary atmospheres; astrodynamics which studies how gravitational forces affect orbital motion; space weathering which investigates how cosmic radiation affects surfaces on airless bodies like asteroids or comets; impact cratering which examines how impacts from asteroids or comets shape planetary surfaces over time; asteroid mining which looks at ways we can harvest resources from near-Earth objects like asteroids or comets; space exploration technologies such as robotic rovers landers orbiters probes satellites telescopes etc.; space missions that send spacecrafts out into deep space to explore distant worlds beyond our Solar System; interstellar travel technology that could one day enable us to travel between stars in our galaxy or even galaxies beyond ours!
