Ornithopods are a group of bipedal dinosaurs that lived during the Mesozoic era. They were herbivorous, and their diet consisted mainly of plants, such as ferns and cycads. Ornithopods had long necks and tails, which allowed them to reach food in tall trees. They also had small heads with large eyes for better vision. Their legs were short but powerful, allowing them to move quickly over the ground. Ornithopods ranged in size from small animals like Hypsilophodon to larger animals like Iguanodon and Hadrosaurus, and are believed to have been social creatures that lived in herds or flocks for protection against predators such as Tyrannosaurus rex and Allosaurus. The ornithopod group includes some of the most iconic dinosaurs known today, including Triceratops and Ankylosaurus.
