NGC 3034, a modest spiral galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major, may not reach the colossal size of IC 1101, the largest known galaxy, but it still holds wonders. Comparable in size to starburst galaxies Messier 82 and the Cigar Galaxy, a cosmic spectacle in its own right. As seen through the Intergalactic Flux Nebula, it joins its larger neighbor M81 in a breathtaking celestial dance. Starburst activity, as evident in Messier 82, paints a vivid picture of ongoing stellar creation within NGC 3034. The Cigar Galaxy and Bodes Galaxy, also in Ursa Major, share the stage with NGC 3034, creating a stunning tableau of cosmic diversity. Surrounded by interstellar dust, these galaxies offer a glimpse into the complex interplay between stars, gas, and dust in the universe. Here, we present a selection of galaxies smaller than the Milky Way, all shown to the same scale, to put NGC 3034's place in the grand scheme of things into perspective.
