"Morningside Heights: A Glimpse into the Past" Step back in time to circa 1915, where the campus of Columbia University stood proudly against the backdrop of Morningside Heights. The football field stretched out before it, ready for thrilling matches that would ignite the spirit of students and spectators alike. In another corner of this historic neighborhood, Grant's Tomb commanded attention with its majestic presence. Painted on canvas, it captured the essence of a monument dedicated to one of America's greatest leaders. Venturing towards Riverside Park, a young boy peered through his spyglass towards the Hudson River. His curiosity sparked by what lay beyond those waters; dreams and adventures waiting to unfold. Horsedrawn carriages gracefully traversed Riverside Drive in front of the Claremont Inn, transporting passengers through time as they soaked in the charm and elegance of New York City during that era. An old silver gelatin print revealed a snapshot from 1893 - a horsedrawn carriage making its way along Riverside Drive. It was an age when transportation relied on horsepower rather than engines; a simpler yet captivating time. Looking northeast from Riverside Drive and Park offered breathtaking views towards the mighty Hudson River. The cityscape unfolded before one's eyes like an artist's masterpiece painted with strokes of nature and architecture combined. A crowd gathered around a carriage carrying President Harrison showcased how even political figures were captivated by Morningside Heights' allure. Military men stood tall as they ensured his safety amidst an atmosphere filled with excitement and anticipation. Taking flight above Riverside Park provided an aerial view that transported observers back to 1893 once again. Silver gelatin prints captured this unique perspective, revealing lush greenery mingling harmoniously with urban development along the riverbanks. Bicyclists pedaled energetically alongside horsedrawn carriages at bends along Riverside Drive - moments frozen in time forever etched upon photographs capturing both progress and nostalgia.
