The Mississippi River Basin is a vast and diverse region that stretches across multiple states in the USA. In 2018, the No Water No Life expedition ventured to the Yazoo-Mississippi area, exploring the intricate waterways and ecosystems of this iconic river system. Heading south along the Lower Mississippi River Basin, we arrived at Natchez Historic District in Mississippi. The charming town offered a glimpse into its rich history, with stunning views of the river serving as a reminder of its importance throughout time. Continuing our journey through Tennessee, we found ourselves in Knoxville within the Tennessee River Basin. Standing on a bridge overlooking this majestic river was truly awe-inspiring, showcasing nature's power and beauty. Venturing westward to Texas along Route 66, Palo Duro State Park welcomed us with its breathtaking Canyon of the Prairie. This natural wonder left us speechless as we marveled at its grandeur. Returning to Louisiana, we explored New Orleans within the Lower Mississippi River Basin. The vibrant city captivated us with its unique blend of culture and charm while reminding us of how closely connected it is to this mighty river system. Further down towards Venice on Gulf Coast lies another gem within the Mississippi River Delta. Its picturesque landscapes showcased both nature's resilience and fragility in equal measure. Our journey then took us northwards to Iowa where Harrison County became our base for exploring Missouri Valley during NWNL's Missouri R-Tribes Expedition. Here we witnessed firsthand how communities rely on these waters for their livelihoods. Next stop: Blair in Washington County, Nebraska - another destination during NWNL's Missouri R-Tribes Expedition. This small town served as an important hub within this expansive basin where people worked tirelessly to protect their precious water resources. Back again in Tennessee but now in Chattanooga situated within Appalachia - yet another part of Tennessee River Basin that mesmerized us with panoramic views from Hunter Art Museum; reminding us why preserving these natural wonders is crucial.
