Martin Johnson: A Versatile Artist's Legacy - From American Impressionism to African Portraits and Car Photography Martin Johnson (1817-1904) was an American painter, best known for his exquisite Impressionist works featuring Hummingbirds and Passionflowers, such as "Hummingbird and Passionflowers, ca. 1875-85" and "Hummingbird and Apple Blossoms, 1875." His artistic journey extended beyond the natural world, as seen in "Newburyport Meadows, ca. 1876-81," a tranquil landscape painting. Johnson's versatility is further showcased in his portrait of a Kikuyu warrior from Kenya, created in 1936. Johnson's diverse interests continued into the 20th century, with a foray into photography. He captured the lively atmosphere of Mr. And Mrs. Martin Johnson's party at London Zoo in October 1920. Surprisingly, Johnson's artistic pursuits extended beyond the art world once more. In the late 20th century, he was also an accomplished car photographer, as evidenced by his photographs of Audi V8 Quattro saloons, CM21 8471 and CM21 8848.
