A diagrammatic drawing of H.M.V Britannia, the royal yacht, first launched in 1953 and decommissioned in 1997. Featured in the Royal Wedding Number of The Illustrated London News in May 1960 as it was where the newly wed Princess Margaret and Anthony Armstrong Jones spent their honeymoon, sailing around the Caribbean. Coronation 1953, the royal box at Ascot

A scene of excitement in the royal box at Royal Ascot when the Queen's colt, Choir Boy, won the Royal Hunt Cup on 17 June 1953, a fortnight after the Coronation. Among those who can be seen in the photograph are the Duchess of Kent (white pillbox hat, clapping), Princess Margaret, the Duchess of Gloucester, the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth II. Date: 1953

Mrs Charles Sweeny as Astrae the Star-Maiden

Mrs Charles Sweeny, formerly Miss Margaret Whigham and later the Duchess of Argyll (1912 - 1993), pictured as Astrae, the Star-Maiden for the Olympian Party at Claridges on 5 March 1935 in aid of the Greater London Fund for the Blind. The Olympian Party featured a pageant of Olympians consisting of an entertainment of dancing and singing with orchestral accompaniment. Date: 1935
