Mac Hobson was a legendary sidecar racer who left an indelible mark on the world of motorcycle racing. In 1965, he teamed up with Geoff Atkinson to compete in the Sidecar TT aboard a Triumph/Norton combination, showcasing his exceptional skills and determination. The following year, Mac and Geoff switched to a Tribsa outfit, further solidifying their status as formidable competitors. In 1967, Mac joined forces with Geoff once again, this time riding a Cowie BSA machine at the Sidecar TT. Their partnership proved successful as they showcased their expertise and claimed another remarkable victory. This triumph only fueled Mac's passion for racing even more. Fast forward to 1974 when Mac partnered with Stuart Collins on a Hamilton Yamaha sidecar at the 500 Sidecar TT. Together, they displayed incredible teamwork and skill throughout the race, leaving spectators in awe of their performance. The years that followed saw Mac teaming up with various talented individuals such as Mick Burns and Kenny Birch (also known as Ham Yam). In 1976 alone, he achieved multiple victories alongside Mick Burns on their Ham-Yam outfit at both the 500 and 1000 Sidecar TT races. Mac's dedication paid off when he became Yamaha's first-ever winner at the prestigious Sidecar TT event. His collaboration with Gordon Russell led them to claim victory in the highly competitive 1975 edition of the race aboard a Yamaha machine. Throughout his career, Mac Hobson demonstrated unwavering commitment to his craft while forming strong partnerships that propelled him towards greatness. His name will forever be etched in history as one of motorcycle racing's most accomplished sidecar racers.
