A Sleepy Ring-Tailed Lemur, Island of Madagascar
The ring-tailed lemur is a large strepsirrhine primate and the most recognized lemur due to its long, black and white ringed tail. It belongs to Lemuridae, one of five lemur families, and is the only member of the Lemur genus. Like all lemurs it is endemic to the island of Madagascar and inhabits gallery forests to spiny scrub in the southern regions of the island. It is omnivorous and the most terrestrial of extant lemurs. The animal is diurnal, being active exclusively in daylight hours

Indri
^BIndri^b (^IIndri indri^i). This is the largest of the lemurs, its body reaching 90 centimetres in length. It lives in the rainforests of north- eastern Madagascar, feeding on fruits, leaves and flowers. The indri lives in small groups of between 3 and 5 individuals. Its loud call, which can be heard from over a mile away, is used to advertise the presence of the group to other lemurs. The destruction of the indri's habitat has led to a rapid decline in its population numbers. Photographed in the Analamazaotra or Perinet Special Reserve, Madagascar
