Rudolf II with his alchemist, artwork. 1883 etching by Emile Armand Mathey-Doret of a painting by Wenzel von Broczick, entitled 'Rodolphe II chez son alchimiste' (Rudolf II with his alchimist), showing the seated emperor and his entourage listening to an alchemist in a his laboratory. Rudolf II (1552-1612) of the House of Habsburg, was Holy Roman Emperor (1576-1612), King of Hungary and Croatia (1572-1608), King of Bohemia (1575-1608/1611) and Archduke of Austria (1576-1608).
